How long do custom medals take?
A complete schedule includes requirement review, artwork approval, tooling, sampling, sample approval, mass production, inspection and transport—not only factory production.
At Extra Dream, a typical custom medal sample takes 7–10 days after artwork and specifications are confirmed. The full order timeline also depends on approval speed, design complexity, quantity, finishing, packaging and transport. Mass-production and shipping dates are therefore confirmed for the individual project.
The seven stages in a custom medal timeline
1. Inquiry and requirement review
The first review should cover artwork or a reference image, target size, estimated quantity, material or weight direction, plating, color, ribbon, packaging, destination country and required arrival date. Missing details make any early delivery estimate provisional.
2. Production artwork and specification approval
The factory translates the design into production artwork and records the agreed construction. The schedule should not be treated as fixed while shape, relief, text, colors or attachments are still changing.
3. Tooling and sample production
After artwork and specifications are confirmed, project-specific tooling and a physical sample can be prepared. A typical Extra Dream sample takes 7–10 days at this stage.
4. Sample review and approval
The buyer checks physical size, relief, plating, colors, ribbon and packaging. One consolidated response is faster and safer than conflicting comments from several separate conversations.
5. Mass production
Production follows the approved sample or another clearly agreed standard. Timing depends on quantity, construction, finish, color work, accessories and current capacity, so it is confirmed in the project quotation.
6. Inspection and packing
Dimensions, appearance, orientation, color placement, accessories, quantity and packing are checked against the approved requirements. Special labels or carton marks should be provided before packing begins.
7. International shipping
Transport time depends on destination, shipment method, customs conditions and the final carton plan. Buyers should work backward from the required arrival date rather than from the event date.
When does the clock actually start?
A useful production schedule begins when the information needed to make the product is controlled. Sending a logo alone starts a conversation, but it does not yet define a production-ready medal.

How to protect a fixed event deadline
Tell the factory the date the medals must arrive and the event date. These are not the same milestone. Allow time after delivery for local distribution, participant packing or presentation preparation.
If the arrival date is fixed, include it with the first inquiry. The factory can then evaluate artwork, sampling, production and transport as one schedule instead of making isolated estimates.
